The last two bars of the phrase keep the same starting notes as the previous two, however, the last note in the progression is lifted to the root note before ascending to D for the final descending run (D,A#,A,D). The next two bars differ from their previous counterparts as while the ascending 8 th note runs continue, the scale jumps go from smaller intervals to the larger G,A#,F,G with the upper reaching note at (3,6) being omitted. These next two bars follow the same 8 th note run as the first two, just with the D replacing the D# from the original run and the last half bar going from the upper octave D down G,F,D# into a lower octave G for the start of bar 5. The downward run then follows the same notes as the ascending run, skipping the F (5 th note in the scale, 2 nd in the ascending run) in order to jump down a note in the scale to D for the next two bars. The descending run starts two notes higher than the ascending run finishes (D, the third in the scale), this maintains the energy so that the listener feels like this was always meant to be the true progression of the arp, as it gets so close to its starting point. It repeats itself thrice before switching to a descending run for the last half bar of the second bar (2,2). Unlike the main melody, the arp starts on a D# (the fourth note in the scale) and runs upward on 8 th notes toward the root note. This structure not only makes it easy for Daya to sing over the production but also makes it easy for other DJ’s to add to their sets. The song’s structure is again fairly basic, it goes Intro, Verse 1, Pre-Chorus, Build-up, Drop 1/Chorus, Verse 2, Breakdown, Pre-Chorus, Build-up, Drop 2/Chorus, Outro. I Wanna Know is composed of 8 and 16 bar phrases with one exception, a 1 bar sub-drop between the drop/chorus and the second verse. Personally, I like it because I think it showcases he talents as a producer, rather than just having himself pigeon-holed into the same sound over and over again. The song is a lot poppier than all the other singles off the album, which was to the dismay of lots of his fans.

At 165bpm, it fills the gap between the 140/150bpm trap he is known for ( Core, Era, Scylla) and the drum and bass he has been influenced by and is starting to make ( Julia, ID). I Wanna Know follows the classic EDM 4/4 formula to make it accessible to DJ’s.
